About the photograph
The photo you have is almost certainly enough.
People often apologise for their photograph — it's old, it's blurry, it was taken on a phone in bad light, it's the only one where they're looking at the camera. That is the photograph nearly everyone starts with, and it usually works.
What matters is that the face is reasonably clear and the markings are visible. Age, grain and softness are things a painted treatment handles gracefully; they are not the problem they are in a print of the photo itself.
If you have several, try them. Previews are free and there is no limit on how long you take to decide.

Questions people ask
My photo is old and grainy. Is that a problem?
Usually not. Painted treatments handle age and softness far better than a straight print would. Upload it and look at the preview before deciding — it costs nothing to find out.
Can you paint two pets together?
Yes. Upload a photo with both in it, or say in the notes which ones belong together. If the result isn't right, change it free until it is.
Can you use a photo where they're wearing a collar?
Yes, and you can ask for it to be kept or removed. Small details like a favourite collar or a particular blanket are often the thing that makes a portrait feel like them.
How long do I have to decide?
Previews stay available for 72 hours. After that they're deleted, and you're welcome to upload the photo again — there's no limit and no cost.
What happens to my photograph?
It stays private to you. It is never shown to anyone else and never used to train anything.
